Sport and Fitness
At Southbank Institute we offer a range of courses that cater for the various specialisations within industry. In the Sport and Fitness disciplines, we offer diploma and certificate level, as well as full-time, part-time and short-course study options.
The difference between our Fitness and Sport courses are:
Sport – focuses on coaching, officiating, business and management skills. There are a number of options to specialise in a chosen sporting field (for example AFL, rugby league and cricket) and develop technical skills, tactics and strategies for these specific sports. It is ideal for:
- people with an interest in sports coaching and development, and possess
- good communication and people skills
- those with a desire to establish a pathway into physical education teaching or human movements studies
- people who have already completed sport and recreation qualifications, such as Certificate II in Sports Coaching or Certificate II in Community Recreation.
Fitness – focuses on exercise management and interventions for specialised needs, exercise nutrition, injury prevention and management, working with allied health professionals and developing organisational and marketing strategies. It is ideal for:
- people who have a personal interest in health and fitness, and possess
- good communication and people skills
- those with a desire to assist others with achieving their health and fitness goals
