Certificate IV in Photoimaging

This nationally accredited qualification is designed to enable the individual to work within the photography industry. The course incorporates both digital and analogue skills in black and white and colour. Students will be introduced to a broad range of skills including lighting, image capture, medium format, digital enhancement and output.

To be granted the Certificate IV, students must successfully complete all 11 mandatory units plus 7 other elective units.

Please note that in the study of performance arts, visual art, and design within a contemporary context, some content may be personally challenging.



Entry Requirements

English Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+   
and
School Leavers must have completed Year 10 or equivalent with a Sound Achievement in English  
or
Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies  
and

Successful completion of this program may assist students to gain entry into further study programs and/or may contribute towards study credits.

Specifically, the Certificate IV in Photoimaging leads into the Diploma of Photoimaging and may aid in entry to Institutions of higher education programs.

International Student Information

Southbank Institute of Technology is situated in the city of Brisbane and is Queensland’s largest Government Vocational Education provider, with over 30,000 student enrolments per year. Southbank Institute of Technology is an ideal place to study. The Institute’s three campuses are located at Southbank, Kangaroo Point and Morningside, close to Brisbane’s Central Business District (CBD) and vibrant inner city areas.
Students at Southbank Institute of Technology have access to the Institute’s wide range of facilities and services. These include the Auditorium, Beauty and Natural Therapies Clinic, Bookshop, Cafe, Child-Care Centre, Computer Laboratories, Conference and Function Facilities, Gymnasium, Intercampus Bus and a Restaurant staffed by students from the Institute.

Teaching methods combine face-to-face delivery, self-study and project work. Students may be required to complete work experience and/or field trips to be eligible for the program award. Southbank Institute of Technology assists students in finding appropriate organisations in which to complete this component. The majority of classes are conducted in modern, air conditioned venues. Students have access to computers in our extensive library and e-Learn centres located on each campus.

Students will be required to sit for both open and closed book examinations and in some cases may be required to perform skills tests and/or oral presentations. Individual or group project work may also be used to determine competency.

The International Business Team consists of administrative and support staff, dedicated to assisting students throughout the various stages of study. This assistance ranges from Program Information to Admission Procedures, Entry Requirements, Visa Regulations and requirements for extending studies to Diploma or Degree level. The International Student Support Officer provides assistance with accommodation, Overseas Student Health Cover, public transport information and can refer students to other support services within and outside the Institute.
