Develop a diverse range of skills needed to work in international business. Students gain general business skills, from basic accounting to customer service, then develop special skills particular to international business. Students learn basic accounting, financial planning, marketing and promotion, customer analysis, new market development, and management of staff recruitment.
This program is to provide coverage of the essential business courses to provide students with an opportunity to gain a range of vocational skills embedded in the Diploma. The program allows students to specialise in particular areas of interest or needs which will meet their future circumstances.
The program supports a multi-cultural student group, which forms a valuable teaching and learning resource. The cultural mix provides students with first-hand opportunities to develop a better understanding of cultural differences.

Entry Requirements
English Proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+

Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study and personal competencies.
Career Opportunities
This program covers a diverse range of skills and knowledge involved with the work of international trade/business across a range of levels. This includes activities such as assisting in the process of importing goods, international transfer of services and international transport of goods, researching international business opportunities and markets; marketing goods and services internationally; obtaining specialist permits for import and export of goods; forecasting international market and business needs; promoting products and services to international markets.

International Student Information
Southbank Institute of Technology is situated in the city of Brisbane and is Queensland’s largest Government Vocational Education provider, with over 30,000 student enrolments per year. Southbank Institute of Technology is an ideal place to study. The Institute’s three campuses are located at Southbank, Kangaroo Point and Morningside, close to Brisbane’s Central Business District (CBD) and vibrant inner city areas.
Students at Southbank Institute of Technology have access to the Institute’s wide range of facilities and services. These include the Auditorium, Beauty and Natural Therapies Clinic, Bookshop, Cafe, Child-Care Centre, Computer Laboratories, Conference and Function Facilities, Gymnasium, Intercampus Bus and a Restaurant staffed by students from the Institute.
Teaching methods combine face-to-face delivery, self-study and project work. Students may be required to complete work experience and/or field trips to be eligible for the program award. Southbank Institute of Technology assists students in finding appropriate organisations in which to complete this component. The majority of classes are conducted in modern, air conditioned venues. Students have access to computers in our extensive library and e-Learn centres located on each campus.
Students will be required to sit for both open and closed book examinations and in some cases may be required to perform skills tests and/or oral presentations. Individual or group project work may also be used to determine competency.
The International Business Team consists of administrative and support staff, dedicated to assisting students throughout the various stages of study. This assistance ranges from Program Information to Admission Procedures, Entry Requirements, Visa Regulations and requirements for extending studies to Diploma or Degree level. The International Student Support Officer provides assistance with accommodation, Overseas Student Health Cover, public transport information and can refer students to other support services within and outside the Institute.
